2 day countdown

Maybe you think that in all the excitement I had forgotten to post the next in my series of posts about the countdown to launch day….not a bit of it. Today (well actually yesterday now as I am writing this at 4am) was another stage in the book process, I took delivery of two thousand copies of The Wainwrights in Colour Book. Colin, who you may have seen here has been working away binding the books and as expected he hasn’t been able to fulfill the whole order but at least I have a good supply for the launch day. I will upload the short film of the delivery later this morning. It may not be the most enthralling footage that you will see but it seems that these short clips have been enjoyed and have provided an insight to the whole process of the production of The Wainwrights in Colour Book.

In the meantime, here is the sketch of the day which this time has come from Book Six, The North Western Fells.Causey Pike looking to Scar Crags

The view to Scar Crags from Causey Pike summit

Of all the 209 sketches from this book I chose this one as I was particularly happy with the way the light was highlighting the top of Scar Crags. The view of the fells beyond is also interesting as Wainwright made a slight error in his depiction which I mention in the book. The zig zag path on Sail can just be seen, a repaired path which some walkers find offensive, not as offensive in my opinion as the massive scar that was there before. I have written a filler article in the book on this very subject.
