Wow, just wow

Well what can I say…..

Firstly apologies for the delay in posting a report or details from the Book launch weekend at Kendal last weekend, since returning back home I have hardly had time to draw breath.

It was a fabulous weekend, a wonderful launch evening where I got rather emotional. Standing in front of 130 guests who spanned most of my life and then introducing the book and film was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my life. Needless to say I shed a tear or two. This was followed with two days of meeting and greeting many people, some who had come to collect pre-ordered books and then some who came in off the street to meet me and to buy a copy.

Thankfully the book has had some wonderful reactions so I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Now it is on with dispatching the hundreds of orders that I have had for the book, both pre-orders and the many which have come in since last week. Esther and I worked together on Monday and Tuesday to get things organised and the first copies are on their way to waiting customers as I write this. Please remember that there is no big team behind this, every single copy has to the signed, numbered, have the DVD and bookmark inserted and then addressed and wrapped individually. There will be few books where this whole process gets completed by the author himself. As a consequence it is a very time consuming task so please be patient, your book will be with you as soon as possible. The Wainwrights in Colour Book

In addition to dispatching the books I am fine tuning my presentation on The Wainwrights in Colour project. The first talk is to be held in Bowes Village Hall on Friday 12th May at 7.30pm and I know tickets are already selling well so I look forward to seeing some of you there. Andy beck talk Bowes

Best Wishes, Andy – a gargantuan effort that deserves all the recognition it rightfully should receive. With respect

  2. I really feel part of this book well done!

    • Thank you Ian, hopefully if you haven’t received your copy by now it should be with you in the next day or two.

  3. Well done Andy and Esther and the three dogs.
I mentioned elsewhere your book was very useful in my bit of the AW 2017 challenge this week.

    • Thank you Don, great to see you again last Friday. Yes I saw your comment. I was actually at those towers just a few weeks ago, glad you found the book helpful.

  4. Sorry I couldn’t make it last weekend but I am really looking forward to receiving my copy. Very well done Andy.

  5. Sounds like a great success already. Looking forward to receiving my copy.

Cannot wait to receive our copy, in Santa Rosa, California! We were just in the Lake District last week on holiday and commented on how wonderful it will be to see all the colors we were enjoying in “real life” reproduced in book form.

Very sorry we couldn’t make the revised launch date. So glad everything went well. Awaiting postman with excitement!!

The book arrived today Andy and it is quite simply, terrific! I have been following your endeavour for the past couple of years after coming across it on the Internet. As a longstanding Lake District lover who lives too far away to visit as often as I want, your stunning book will bring the Lakes to me.

I would love to come to Kendal to listen to your talk in June, but alas I won’t be able to do so. If you have any plans to video your talk and make it available on DVD then I will be waiting enthusiastically in the queue to buy it so please let me know.

Thank you again, it is a great achievement.

    Regards,

  9. What an amazing launch Andy, well done. Also what an amazing book, it has all your work for the project in it and so much more. Only problem is that you have a limited number. Great for the coffee table or a gift. I wish you all the best and hope it’s a great success.

    • Thankyou Michael, glad that you were there. Currently spending my days dispatching copies of the book so maybe doing a limited number wasn’t such a bad idea after all..the hills are calling .

  10. Hi Andy. We really enjoyed meeting you at the launch weekend. You created a great relaxed event. The book is wonderful and you should be very proud of your achievement. I didn’t realise quite how much work had gone into it. Dave and Chris Gannon
